Time and time again, my work with Venus brings me back to what is important.
And the most important thing we have in our lives are our relationships.
I don’t mean this bullshit patriarchal fairytale where the only relationship of value and meaning is the one you have with a romantic partner.
I mean our relationship with EVERYONE important in our lives.
Our friends. Lovers. Co-workers. Parents. Kids. Aunties. Housemates.
How we have the power to create a network of amazing, loving people around us.
I don’t know about you, but when I truly start to enjoy and love my life, it’s because of the people I have around me.
This last weekend was the best weekend ever. Not only was it sunny, but I got to hang out with my possy of powerful, inspiring dancers as we created something crazy beautiful together (in honour of the Candomble love goddess Oshun – I’ll show you a video when it’s ready). I got to see my lover and go to a party to hang out with new friends. I got to do a gig where I got to dance for a family having a big night out – and hang out with the other performers. I got to see a bit of the London Marathon and see the beauty in people cheering on strangers, encouraging them on their mission to see it through to the end, and last night I got to fall asleep in my beloved’s arms.
It was amazing because of the people I shared the experiences with.
When I ask my boyfriend, where is your favourite place in the world? He always answers, that depends on who I am with.
With the right people, a trip to Tescos can be one of your all time favourite nights out ever.
People make our lives beautiful: the outpouring of love between friends, partners, family members.
Venus is all about relationships – attracting people, and the love that flows between them. She governs sex, but she also governs friendships, sisterhoods, anywhere where love and support and attraction flows freely.
So one way to honour and work with Venus is to set aside time to hang out with your favourite people. Call your friend who lives on the other side of the country and spend an hour reminiscing about the old days. Pop over to your friend’s house with a bottle of wine and a casserole. Reach out.
She’s like the celestial socialite of the heavens.
Working with Venus enhances and refocuses our attention on the pleasure-filled relationships in our lives.
